I would like to personally thank John Quinn and the crew at Sturt Home loans for changing my life by helping improve my family's wealth.  Since meeting John in April 2000 I have gone from a position of debt (going nowhere and always stressed about money), to investing in over 1 million dollars in real estate.  My wife was able to purchase a brand new Astra CDX whilst I purchased a Land Rover Discovery for myself.  Because of our new found financial freedom, we are now able to travel at will and buy the things we need.

When I first met John I was confused about how to best borrow money to buy a house and was concerned about the best way to invest our money whilst not getting screwed by rogue financial planners. At the time, investing in real estate was the hot option and the share market had cooled its heels. There were literally hundreds of 'wanna be' hopefuls touting themselves as so called 'wealth experts'.

Prior to meeting John I had read loads of books and conducted extensive research and spent hundreds of dollars meeting with accountants and financial planners all claiming to be "wealth creation" experts. The worst part of seeing these people was that they wasted my valuable time; and I spent hours travelling all over Melbourne to attend appointments (after work) only to be frustrated by their apparent lack of understanding about the goals I was wanting to achieve. I came away from these appointments no wiser and my wallet a lot lighter. One accountant spent an hour bragging about how good he was at investing and left me $300.00 poorer, what was worse was that he didn't even try to sell me anything. What I lacked was the practical application of getting the money from the banks.

I'd owned a house in Perth for some years and I also had purchased a yacht (money hole in the water). With the repayments we had to make we were just not getting ahead, something had to go, because the banks were not interested in really helping us they just wanted to tie us up in further debt. All we wanted to do was improve our position in life, build a future for our children and be able to retire before we were rolled into a dark, deep hole 6ft under.

Then one night my wife came home from work quite excited telling me about a broker that had helped one of her friends out of a financial mess they had gotten into. So we made an appointment and to my amazement John came and visited us at home at a time that was convenient for both of us.

I was a little skeptical by this stage, but I had nothing to lose. One hour into his visit my head was spinning and it was like a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders, WHY YOU ASK? Because John had the bloody answer! Our lives would never be the same again. We refinanced our existing loans using unique, but very practical methods and to my delight we were able to keep our investment property in Perth, as well as our yacht and were able to purchase a home to live in, in a beachside suburb in Melbourne.

With John as our mentor and sounding board we went on to buy four more houses and units on the east coast of Australia. John continues to guide us and is always on hand with valuable advice when and if we need it. John has also stopped us from making bad investment decisions that would have increased our risk and sent us broke. John looks out for us and provides valuable insight whilst making us aware of the pitfalls and if necessary suggests an alternate course of action, should there be a more viable option. I recommend that anybody serious about getting ahead in life talk to this bloke, the simple fact that he has been in the banking business longer than I've been breathing means there is very little he hasn't seen or done.

One young woman that I worked with was asking me how I was able to buy so many houses and invest; she had saved $40,000 in the bank but was only a casual employee which meant she found it difficult to secure a home loan. Again, I didn't have all the answers to her questions, so I recommended that she get in contact with John and within 18 months she had purchased two properties in Melbourne and was looking at subdividing them. She increased her wealth from a meager $40,000 to a cool million, now that's not bad and it's just one example. I'm sure John gets tired of me referring mates with difficult banking requirements. I call him the miracle worker...

John is what I call a wealth guru, not flashy, not pushy, no bullshit, just good old fashioned service and best of all John and his staff gets results because their reputation depends on it. They genuinely care and want to make sure that you get the best deal; what's more they will see you regardless of whether you want to purchase a $100,000 property or a $1 million dollar property.

Our journey has been a huge learning experience for us, mixed with hard work and many hours and days of research peppered with a great deal of frustration. However, this is a small price to pay and worth every minute spent in the books. My wife and I have achieved more in five years than most people do in a lifetime and the best part is we're only getting started.
